Dogs for Adoption (Santa Barbara) |
The following dogs are waiting for a home at the Dog Adoption and Welfare Group (DAWG). DAWG is a private, non-profit, no-kill dog rescue organization, owned and operated by volunteers, serving the lost and abandoned dogs of Santa Barbara. The kennels are located at 5480 Overpass Rd (off Patterson Avenue just beyond the County Shelter). All dogs are on K9 Advantix flea/tick/mosquito protection, are spayed/neutered, have all current shots, as well as a HomeAgain microchip. Adoption Hours: Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays: 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm., other times by appointment. Dogs can be viewed every day during business hours. MEET CLANCY! 3-4 yr. old neutered male border collie, 45 lbs. Active, athletic, smart, always ready to go on an adventure. Good with kids and other dogs and loves to snuggle. Possibly the most tennis ball focused dog we know! An all around great dog for an active family. No cats, please. |

MEET MANDY! 1-2 yr. old spayed female Chihuahua mix, 7 lbs. Still very much a puppy, Mandy is playful, curious, and cute. When she's not snuggling in a warm lap, she enjoys playing with other small dogs and will make a great running/hiking partner. Seeks out human company; will bond strongly with her new person(s). |

MEET ROMEO 3 yr. old male shih tzu, 12 lbs. This sweet, affectionate pup was rescued from a puppy mill, where he was used for breeding purposes. Sweet, affectionate, loves cuddling in warm laps and playing with other little dogs. |

MEET TANK! Neutered male mixed breed puppy born in March, 2010, presently weighs 27 lbs. Tank was born at DAWG, so we know that mom is a purebred min-pin. Dad was probably a medium sized terrier. Tank is smart, playful, happy, wants to please, and enjoys learning. He'll benefit from some obedience training. Loves being with people and is good with other dogs. |

MEET RICKY! Under 1-year-old male spaniel mix, 15 lbs. Ricky is a very sweet, affectionate, calm, and loyal pup who LOVES all other dogs (both big and small). He enjoys hiking, the beach, and will curl up next to you on the couch. Fine with cats and is crate trained. Great family dog! |

MEET BLACKJACK! Almost a year old neutered male black lab/pointer mix, 60 lbs. Very beautiful athletic long and lean. An excellent and tireless running partner; learning to walk calmly on leash. Did not have a great start in life, but with some time and patience, and lots of exercise, Blackjack will become a loyal companion. Needs a person with prior dog/obedience experience. |

MEET GERONIMO AND MOLLY! Older adult (Geronimo-L) and 4.5 yr. old (Molly-R) purebred altered male and female min-pins. Cute, sweet, lively, self-entertaining. They have lived together since Molly was a puppy; need to be adopted together. |

MEET SCOOBIE! 6-7 yr. old aussie, 61 lbs. Sweet, calm, gentle. Scoobie is housetrained, has great manners, knows basic commands, is a great walker, loves car rides, is pretty much indifferent to foster home’s cat and dogs. |

MEET JADE! 3-5 yr. old purebred German shepherd. Calm, gentle, sweet, obedient, appears to have had some training. Jade would probably be good with kids; a fine family dog. |

MEET FIZZ! 8 mo. old female cairn terrier mix, 12 lbs. She is an adorable little dog, lively, happy, affectionate and smart. Like people and other dogs. |

MEET CHARLEY! 2-3 yr. old male doxie/chihuahua mix, 10 lbs. Charley is sweet, calm, and gentle. He enjoys playing with other little dogs, especially the females(!) and loves hanging out on the grass. A little shy at first, but once he knows you, he will do his happy dance for you. |

MEET EMMIE! 5 yr. old spayed female lab mix, (perhaps Vizsla or Weimaraner?), 60 lbs. Good with kids, adults, cats, and other dogs. Emmie has a bit of separation anxiety, so she needs to be with her person(s) a majority of the time. She'd love to have the company of another dog in the household. |

MEET SHANNON! 2-3 yr. old spayed female pit bull terrier, 50 lbs. She plays nicely with the dogs she’s met at DAWG. With people she acts like a typical pit – affectionate, charming, eager to please, wants to be touching you at all times. |

MEET BILLY! 1-2 yr. old neutered male Chihuahua, 10 lbs. Loves playing with other little dogs, confident, outgoing, happy go lucky, loves to jump in your lap and gives kisses. Crated trained.

MEET RICKY! 2 yr. old neutered male red and cream min-pin mix, 13 lbs. He is a smiley, affectionate, loves kids. He's happiest playing with his DAWG buddies, sitting in a warm lap or going to the beach. His tail is always wagging. Gets along great with all little dogs. "Red Ricky" would be a wonderful addition to any family! |

Quiet, calm and gentle, housebroken, needs only light exercise and a quiet, safe place to snuggle, a warm lap to sit in, lots of love and kisses. Sweet temperament, calm disposition, excellent housemanners, follows directions, knows basic obedience. Needs only moderate exercise (no marathons). Can get jealous of other dogs for affection in the household, so he needs to be the only dog. |
